Arcade Racers That Actually Feel Good on a Phone
Racing games and touchscreens have a rocky relationship. Without physical buttons, everything comes down to how the developers handle steering, braking, and the split-second feel of a corner. Get it wrong and the whole game is misery.
Dust Circuit Rally is a good study in getting it right. It offers both tilt and on-screen buttons, and crucially, the buttons are big and forgiving. The drift mechanic is bound to a simple hold, so you're never fumbling for two inputs at once mid-corner.
The other thing that matters is forgiveness in the physics. Arcade racers should let you recover from a bad line, not spin you into a wall for a tiny mistake. The best ones make you feel skilled even when you're being sloppy, then reward genuine mastery on the harder tracks.
When I test a racer, I play the first three tracks with buttons and the next three with tilt. If either method feels like fighting the game, it goes near the bottom of the pile. Dust Circuit passed both, which is why it's in our catalog.
